Whittney Polley Heard, EdD
Dr. Whittney Danielle Polley was born on July 20, 1992, to Daniel Polley and Sonja Polley; she was born and raised in Logansport, Louisiana, and graduated from Logansport High School. She currently resides in Bossier City, LA and, is happily married to Djay Heard II.
Education
After graduating high school, Dr. Polley attended Louisiana Tech University where she majored in Business and joined Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Among managing a social life and college, she joined the US Army in 2012, where she devoted her time as an Automated Logistical Specialist, singer, and flute player. In 2016, she graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana receiving her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music. While obtaining her degrees at Centenary, she sang in the Camerata Choir and completed an internship with the Juvenile Court program at Volunteers for Youth Justice. In 2018, she graduated from Lipscomb University with a Masters of Education in Instructional Practice and joined Pi Lambda Theta, an educational honors organization. At the age of 29, she received her Doctor of Education in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University in 2021.
Career
After Dr. Polley received her BS and BA from Centenary College, she moved to Nashville,Tennessee and worked as a Financial Services Specialist at Regions Bank. She later started teaching at McGavock High School as a Business instructor. In 2019 she was promoted to theAcademy Coach position where she helped prepare students for college, career, and life. She served as an Academy Coach until she moved back to Louisiana and became an Assistant Principal at Minden High School in Webster Parish. Dr. Polley currently serves as the Director of Education for the Providence House, an organization that seeks to end the homeless cycle one family at a time.
In her “spare” time, Dr. Polley owns and operates Synergy Community Solutions, a consulting firm where she serves as an educational and data consultant for individuals, organizations and the community. Additionally, she owns a community event center in her hometown and mentors high school students to prepare them for life after grade school. Lastly, Dr. Polley is the proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., serves on the Board of Trustees for Linwood Public Charter School, and she serves on the board for Caddo Career and Technology Center Scholarship Foundation. Lastly, she is a member of the Rotary Club of Shreveport.
Mission
Dr. Polley’s mission is to inspire positive change through education, advocacy, and being a lifelong learner. She is committed to God, her family, the community, and social justice. She lives by Angela Davis's quote, “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.” She takes pride in building quality relationships as well as creating a culture and climate where individuals can thrive. She is committed to sustaining community partnerships and promoting collective efficacy to ensure economic and educational opportunities are enhanced for all people.
